Oulton Park Round 2:
Three Wins. Job Done.

Round 2 of the 2026 Helmet City MRO Supersport 600 Championship took us to Oulton Park — a circuit I'd never ridden on a 600 before. Tricky conditions, a bike that threw a fit on race morning, and wind that tried its best to ruin the weekend. Three wins. We'll take it.

Thursday — Practice

A steady start to the day. The track was still damp from overnight rain so I sat out the first session — no point taking unnecessary risks on a circuit I'd never ridden on a 600. Once conditions improved, it was just a case of getting acquainted with Oulton on the Triumph and drilling in the laps.

We didn't make any changes to the bike throughout the day. The focus was entirely on getting into the flow of the circuit — learning the lines, understanding where the Triumph wanted to be placed, and building confidence lap by lap.

Friday — Qualifying

Qualifying threw up an interesting challenge. Pretty much all of the corner exits were dry, but there were three really wet braking zones scattered across the track. I'd opted for slick tyres, which meant it was a case of making up time through the dry sections and being very tentative through the wet parts.

Not an easy lap to put together cleanly. But we qualified P3 — which I was pretty happy with, all things considered.

Friday — Race 1

Got the holeshot into Turn 1 from P3 on the grid — a great start. But this wasn't an enjoyable race from a riding perspective. The wind was absolutely brutal and completely unpredictable, and I spent the whole race trying to be consistent rather than fast.

It's very rare I find myself mid-race genuinely thinking a situation is sketchy — but the conditions were genuinely sketchy. The key was staying smooth, managing the risk, and doing what needed to be done to reach the finish line. We got there.

Saturday — Race 2

Fresh rear tyre in for Race 2 — and then, about an hour before the start, the bike decided to throw a fit. Wouldn't start. Not ideal.

Fortunately, sponsor JB Motorcycles were with us. They quickly diagnosed the issue — a fuel pump relay — and got it swapped out in record time. Crisis averted. We made the grid.

It was a colder race but the wind had calmed down compared to Friday. Starting from P1, I focused on chipping away and improving through the sections where I didn't feel as strong — particularly corner entry into Island Bend. A big shoutout to Aiden Patmore for being my pit board with some numbers he found lying around on the pit wall — we improvised and it worked perfectly.

Finished P1 with a personal best for the weekend: 1:43.31.

Saturday — Race 3

The wind made an almighty return for the final race of the weekend. So it was back to the Race 1 gameplan — ride sensible, don't get caught out by the conditions, and get to the finish line.

That's exactly what happened. Three races, three wins.

Weekend Verdict

Overall, I'm happy with the results. Three wins from three races on a circuit I'd never ridden on a 600 before. But I genuinely think there was more pace in us — the weather conditions made it difficult to push to the limit. The Triumph felt amazing all weekend.

Next up is Donington Park in May, and I'm looking forward to it. Hoping to get a couple of upgrades on the bike before then.
